Riddim Grid

The sound of a restored and manipulated recording taken from a dolphin bashment that took place 200 leagues beneath the Caribbean sea's aquamarine crystal surface. Dubbed out keys wash over the grid of insistent 4 4 foundations. Rigidly structured, refined German sourced roots and roots culture from Disrupt, label head of Jahtari, and long time bredrin of Mungo's Hi Fi's scotch bonnet institution. Whilst still demonstrating a unique production sensibility that constantly twists the genre's traditional templates into unique shapes, here Disrupt foregoes his trademark digital casio dancehall maneuvers for a deep and pure dub style intent on working and elaborating the groove for all its power.

Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Koyaanisqatsi

Short film idea:
Music video for Steve Reich's music for six pianos: six people running individually on treadmills, shots of their feet hitting the floor overlap and gallop in the same way that the music skips and merges together from its component parts to make hidden and entrancing new melodies.
The music is a good backdrop to the running to exhaustion video idea anyway.

IKE

Every music lover is on a constant search for a musical conclusion, an all encompassing and every way satisfying sonic soul mate. A genre that feels like home to every mood, that does not falter in the face of trends and developments because in its body all past and future innovations are included and loved in perfect proportions. A music that seems to somehow encompass the principals and spirit of the good fight. This musical Holy Grail may be just that, since such a perfect conclusion would be impossible due to the nature of our ever changing tastes. That is not to say however that for brief week/month/year long moments we can ecstatically fool ourselves that we have found it...and in those fleeting times the blessed music passes with each bar feeling like it was meant to be.

Whats that? Do I hear the pitter patter of urban apostles wearing size eleven Air Force Ones simultaneously marching through the gates of every metropolis on earth and declaring deep house the universal sound of early morning, all evening and after hours city life? Is this the coming of the post modern musical godson, enlightened and all seeing in the knowledge of past and present musics, white and black, digital and analog?

The sounds of various artists on an ever growing and strengthening scene that takes in carefully selected aspects of techno, house, garage, disco, hip hop, soul, motortown, jazz, funk and every world music east of Grenwich, provide the soundtrack to men and women living in the dense with the weight of infinite stories streets of the 21st century.

"Then indecision brings its own delays,
And days are lost lamenting over lost days.
Are you in earnest? Seize this very minute;
What you can do, or dream you can, begin it;
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it."

"Too much for my mirror,
She almost made me lose it,
The way she abuse it,
Made me never want to use it."
